I worked on this project as part of the team at Neon Black Design.
Our work on this project played a part in the design being awarded the winner of Fast Company's 2017 Innovation by Design Award in the Experimental Category.
The Challenge:
Airbus had developed a modular cabin concept that borrowed from existing cargo infrastructure. Our team helped imagine what a flight experience could look like using this architecture.
Some of the questions we asked were:
How might we change the way people feel and behave during a flight?
How might we change the way people plan and book their trips?

Using the human centered design process, we conducted several ethnographic interviews with a wide range of users. We researched why people became superfans of experiences across hospitality and transportation. We studied experiences analogous to travel and flight, such as Nascar races, pod hotels, travel agents, and buying electric cars.
We delivered a series of insights and design principles to the Airbus team that formed the basis for the concept of Transpose.
The Result:
The work from Airbus went on to win the 2017 Innovation by Design Award by Fast Company.
